The 10th Annual Barrack Hill Ball Run

Posted on: Friday, 29th of July 2016

There is a lot happening in Cobh this Bank Holiday Monday, 4th August. The days events start off with a Teddy Bears Picnic in the promenade. Families are asked to bring a picnic, blankets and the kiddies favourite Teddy Bears from 1.00pm. There will also be a free Crab Fishing Competition taking place at the same time.

Then events move to the Barrack Hill (Westview). The hill has 25 houses stacked up against each other on the hillside and it has been fondly named the “Deck of cards”.

From 2.30pm The Uphill Challenge begins where teams of three will have to roll a big exercise ball up the hill in relay format.

Then the main event begins with the Barrack Hill Ball Run. This is the 10th anniversary of the event where 6000 balls will be released. These will be helped down the hill by the spectators. Balls cost €2 each and the first four balls across the finish line receive cash prizes.

All proceeds from the event go to Cobh GAA and Epilepsy Ireland.
